Our family blog
James, Georgie and I spent a week in Cornwall at my parents a few weeks ago, and had a great time!
We went to the beach a few times, to the Hidden Valley, and had a day out at Bude Lifeboat Day. Mum, Georgie & I also had a fab girls day out in Tavistock, which was great fun.
Georgie's first beach experiences went well - she had a paddle in the sea at Trebarwith Strand, and we splashed about in a pool of water on the beach at Widemouth Bay. We got her a super cute swimming costume and everything!
Georgie has discovered her feet (sort of!) and that she can bash stuff when she waggles her arms in the right direction. Also, she enjoys playing with mummy after nappy changes!
James, Georgie & I headed to Solihull today to go to the NCT Nearly New Sale, and managed to get loads of great stuff at bargain prices! We got all of this lot for just £40, in just half an hour of shopping:
Really pleased with our bargain hunting - the stuff is all practically new still, and the RRPs of the non clothes stuff alone adds up to over £60! I'm looking forward to the next sale, our local NCT branch has one in November so it will be great to get her kitted out for the Winter and buy some toys for her then, when she'll be at a more appreciative age! We've already tried her out in the bouncy chair and she really loves it, which is great. The vibrating function really seemed to help soothe her off to sleep too, which was great.
I used my sling to do some babywearing today - this was brill at the NCT sale as it was absolutely jampacked and the few people who braved taking their babies in using their pushchairs were having big problems! It was really useful to have her in the sling at Asda too, as we needed to do a big shop today and didn't want to use a car seat trolley - they are great but difficult to get large items in, and when you're buying two big boxes of nappies (amongst lots of other things) you need an easy access trolley! Trust me though, there is nothing quite like wearing a cute baby on your chest to get lots of stares and comments in a supermarket :-DWe're off to Wales tomorrow for my cousin's little girl Leila's Christening, which should be fun - it's the first time a lot of family will have the chance to meet our little baby :-)
Our little Georgiana is one month old already and it has been a very very busy month! We have now succesfully moved in and are starting to settle in, although unpacking and getting ourselves sorted is a bit of a slow process with a newborn in the house to look after! We are really enjoying the extra space though, I think we are going to love our new home.
Georgie is doing brilliantly, feeding and sleeping plenty (although not always at the most convenient time of day/night!), and growing well. This week she has had a definite growth spurt, suddenly all of her first size & newborn clothes are too small and she is now into her 0-3 wardrobe. She has already changed so much over these past weeks and we are already chalking up 'firsts' - her first real smile was earlier this week!
James headed back to work mid-May and so Georgie and I have been out and about exploring the neighbourhood - checking out the local parks, joining both local libraries and investigating the High St. I think we are going to like it here :-)
